MANY MONTHS AGO
Yatyasa Thi is liberated, amongst the remaining populace of Maddar Rootwarriors. She departs with a crown belonging to the ancient Egartian king-lord Brysald, former ruler of the Egartian empire, and the man behind the capture and dissolve of the people of Matamatamba.
On her journeys, she trades her items for handfuls of gold and gemstones and uses this newfound wealth to her advantage, buying her way aboard a merchant convoy across the middle plain of Erdea. She quickly earns their trust with her wise and demeanour. When the convoy hits the shore, however, it disbands. For a short while, Yatyasa spends her evenings drinking lemon mead alone, before she becomes aware of the remarkable hostility for her in the old lands. As a foreigner she is deeply suspect, particular as the knowledge of the destruction of Egart spreads the world. She decides to travel to the land of Nijieh Mesa, described in ancient writings as a place of prosperity and strength, keen to lose her primitive status and inherit citizenship in a worthy land.
